In this PnP Web Cast we concentrated on the PnP PowerShell. Key objective was to explain why it exists, how to get started and cover some of the new command-lets which have been recently added to the package. PnP PowerShell is community driven, open source package, which is evolving on monthly basis. It gives you an easy way to script and automate SharePoint related tasks in SharePoint online or in on-premises.

SharePoint
PNP
really
concentrates,
obviously
on
the
upcoming
SharePoint
framework,
more
stuff
on
that
quite
soon,
depending
on
when
you

watching
the

there's
a
lot
of
stuff
in
a
shipment,
add-ins
also
a
lot
of
content
around
Microsoft
crafts
and
the
remote
provisioning
and
client-side
development
in
general,
but

powershell
commandlets,
basically
they
don't
come
out
of
the
box.
You
will
have
to
download
them.
You
will
have
to
install
them
and
there
are
several
ways
of
doing
that,
and
I
will
show
you
that
in
the
demo
to
then
the
whole
idea
behind
the
PowerShell
and
and
actually,
if
you're,
a
developer,
that
would
make
quite
some
sense
the
way
work.
But
you
have
to
connect
to
your
site.
You
connect
to
your
online
site
or
to
your
on-premise
site
and
from
that
moment,
on,
the
whole
rates
of
Commandments
is
to
your

script

creating

and
the

collection

and

add
a
field
which
is
you
have
to
write
down

is
that
there

three
different
versions
of
the
client
object,
the
client
contacts
or
sorry,
the
client,
libraries
or
the
client
SDK
for
for
those
versions
of
the
server.
So
you
will
have
to
download
the
specific
version,

want
to
work

you
install
all
three
of
them
at
the
same
time?

thing

is

provide
credentials
now.
If

ENTER
right

will
notice
that
I

not
asked
for
credentials
in
the
way
that
works
is

connected

up
credentials
for
me
in

windows,
credential
manager,

out-of-the-box
windows,
credential
manager,
where
I
set
up
an
entry

easy
to
script
things

like
servers
or
unattended,
because
you
don't
want
to
enter
usually
in
password
in
automated
scenarios,

you

don't
want

store
user
ID
and
password
in
your
script
itself.

commandlets

using
the
windows
credential
manager,
whether
your
credentials
are
safely
stored.

format

benefits,

biggest
benefit

is
that
we
now
contain
all
the
assets
that
make
up
your
template
in
the
provisioning
engine.
They
are
located
in
one
file.

if
you
have
like
a
template,
an
XML
file
and
you
have
images-
and
maybe
some
hbx
files
etc,
they
all
are
part
of
that
single
PP
file
that
you
can
easily
distribute
within
your
organization
or
put
in
a
SharePoint
list
and
then
reuse
it
from
there
or
as
well
in
a
library,
I
mean
and
reuse
it
on
there.
So.

it's
an
office
open,
XML
file.

you

biggest
use
case
for
the
PNP
PowerShell
is
just
standardization
and
you
can
script
your
provenance
logic.
You
can
scrape
your
provisioning
logic
and

can
provision
hundreds
of
site
collections
using
a
standard
set
of
scripts
with
all
of
the
default
settings
and
all
of
that
and
using
the
engine
as
well
yeah
yeah,
but
it's
such
a
powerful
tool
to
do
automated
tasks.

PowerShell
gallery
available,
you
could
actually
write
your
scripts
in
such
a
way
that
it
checks
if
the
PowerShell
commands
are,

it
will
download
them,
install
them
and
then

will
automatically
retrieve
them
on

completely
standalone.

means
that
you

not

download
any
other
requirements
or
add
libraries,
nothing

required
files

the
commander's
needs
to
work
like
the
Client,
SDK,
the

all
part
of
that
package
that
you
install
so
no
need
to
take
care
of
that.
It's
just
a
single
download.
You
run
it
and
you're
done

up
and
running.

Power

They

code

big
benefit
over
also
writing
a
code
and
using
the
core
component.
It's
no
doubt
an
option,
but
every
now

then
it's
actually
faster
and
easier
to
do
the
stuff
using
PowerShell
exactly.
