citizens.

advances

Fair
Work
Week
bill
gets
passed,
we
want
this

to
be
the
strongest

so
workers
can
have
stability
in
our
home
life
and
our
work
life
when
I
first
started
out
in
retail
I
needed
a
job
to
pay
my
bills,
books
and
supplies
for
school
and
as
well
to
take
care
of
my
disabled
mother
I
had
a
lot
of
responsibilities
to
take
on
it
only
18
years
old,
starting
out
and
retail.
Like
everyone
else,
I
was
naive
to
the
working
conditions
in
the
service
industry.

I
have
an
erratic
schedule,
which
takes
a
toll
on
my
mental
health
and
I,
couldn't
make
time
to
study
or
schedule.
Doctor's
appointments
for
myself
or
my
mother
I
had
frequent
panic
attacks
due
to
management
overworking
me,
and
due
to
the
stress
of
my
erratic
work
schedule,
my
weekly
hours
would
constantly
fluctuate
due
to
this
I
didn't
know
how
much
money
would
be
on
my
paycheck
at
the
end
of
the
week.

Sometimes
I
would
be
late
on
bills
and
had
to
even
borrow
money
I'm,
just
one
of
the
130,000
Philadelphians
working
in
the
service
sector,
who
experiences
stress
in
our
lives
due
to
our
work
schedule.
If
you
care
about
your
constituents
and
getting
Philadelphia
out
of
poverty,
you
will
vote
YES
for
the
fair
work
week
bill
in
its
current
strongest

in

out
along
with

Also,
the
homeless
began
to
become
more
visible

condos
and
the
high-rise
building

buildings
became
the
new
housing
wave
bed-stuy
and
neighboring
Fort
Greene,
two
areas
that
had
been
popular
black
and
Latino
neighborhoods
drastically
changed
as
yuppies
and
other
white
ethnics
move
in
and
yes,
discrimination
also
intensified.

too
was
priced
out
and
became
homeless.
Briefly,
that's
why,
two
years
ago,
I
moved
here
to
Philadelphia.
Fortunately,
I
was
able
to
find
housing.
I
would
say:
I
got
gentrified
out
of
Brooklyn
and
I
hope
that
that
doesn't
happen
again
to
myself
or
anyone.

also
hope
that

our
City
Council
members,
will
support

good
cause
bill
and
invest

low

moderate
income
housing,
something
that
Philadelphia
drastically
