understanding
of

ecologists

technologists
scientists

professionals

believe
that
ecosystem
function

a
global
scale

the
solution
that
we
are
putting
forth
into
the
markets,
and
so

this
ecological
regeneration.

can

use
markets
and
Technology
to
drive
Capital
into
real-world
ecological
regeneration
projects,
the
planting
of
your
trees,
the
restoration
of
your
main
growth
for
us,
the
restoration
of
a
riparian
buffer
on
a
river,

establishment
of
a
Windbreak
on
a
farm
field,
the
sequestration
of
soil
organic
carbon
by
switching
over
to
regenerative
agriculture
practices?
So
all
of
our
work,
really
centers
around
ecological
regeneration
and
all
of
our
tools

meant
to
form
a
democratic
system
of
market
dynamics
around
this
intersection.

that

mind,
we
sit
in
a
world
view
where
we
had
a
couple
of
different
sides
of
the
market
that
we
are
addressing
at
one
time
one.
We
are
looking
at
Carbon
credit
Registries
that
exist
off
the
blockchain
that
have
a
number
of
bottlenecks
and
quality
guarantee
concerns
that
exist
for
their
ability
to
establish
standards,
their
ability
to
affect
market
dynamics
and
their
ability
to
ensure
that
the
on
the
ground,
ecological
regeneration,
work
that
carbon
credit
standards
represent,
are,
in
fact,
efficient
and
effective
in
the
marketplace.

On
the
sides
of
that,
we
now
have
the
voluntary
carbon
Market.
That
is
off
the
blockchain,
what
we
call
the
digital,
voluntary
carbon
Market,
which
is
on
the
blockchain,
which
are
really
two
different
systems,
one
being
Legacy
off
the
blockchain
and
one
being
more
Innovative
on
the
blockchain
simultaneously
within
those
markets.
You
have
typical
market
demand
of
supply
and
demand
nature-based
Solutions
at
regen
Network.
We
do
nature-based
Solutions
again,
ecology
is
our
Focus,
not
wind
farms,
not
solar
Farms,
but
we're
storing
ecological
function
on
a
planetary
level.

On
the
other
side,
you
have
expanding
corporate
demand
for
climate
commitments
and
expanding
National
reporting
systems.
So,
as
the
market
expands
on
both
sides.
Ultimately,
we
have
to
ask
the
question:
what
technologies
can
bring
carbon
credits

electrological
assets
to
Market
efficiently
effectively?

originate
new
carbon
credit
supplies
and
credits
that
go
beyond
just
carbon
into
biodiversity,
into
water,
into
social,
economic
and
institutional
co-benefits,
and
we
enable
carbon
credit
purchasers
to
engage
with
the
market

bottlenecks,
intermediaries
or
other
interventions
that
sit
between
project
developers.
Doing
the
work
on
the
ground
and
companies
trying
to
make
investments
directly
into
projects
that
have
real
world
quantifiable
impacts.

a
new
carbon
credit
pipeline
of
over
2
million
credits
that
are
going
to
be
produced
in
2023
and
in
a
second
I'll,
explain
where
these
credits
come
from,
because
these
are
not
credits
from
their
gold
standard.
These
are
credits
from
brand
new
registry
systems,
brand
new
registry
standards
and
evolving,
an
Innovative
scientific
methodology,
development
in
our
ecosystem.

the
other
side,
we
have
institutional
corporate
buyers,
including
Microsoft,
who
have
been
some
of
the
lead
investors
into
the
credits
that
have
been
developed
in
our
systems,
particularly
for
Microsoft's
moonshot
goal,
an
extending
series
of
partners
that
are
corporations
both
on
the
blockchain
and
off
the
blockchain
who
are
looking
for
new
scientific
standards.
Looking
for
high
integrity,
carbon
credits
and
looking
for
nature-based
Solutions
in
order
to
meet
their
climate
commitments,
we
sit
in
the
middle
of
the
supply
and
demand
component
with
both
our
registry
system
and
our
Marketplace
system.

is

think
personally,
really
interesting.
We
have
three
pieces
to
the
product
puzzle
that
make
this
Suite
of
functionality
really
work
together.
So
it's
a
bit
like
a
Rubik's
Cube
It's
multi-layered
and
has
a
lot
of
dynamic
interaction
between
the
pieces
to
create
a
credit.
We
start
with
their
blockchain
based
credits
registry,
that
is
called
regen
registry
and
the
way
this
works
is
that
new
methodologies
are
being
developed
by
scientific
institutions,
universities
in
conjunction
with
real
world
land
practitioners.

What
we're
asking
is,
how
can
you
create
space
for
new
climate
science
in
a
market
where,
historically,
the
credit
standards
have
been
institutionalized?
They
have
been
decided
by
a
very
limited
view.
They
have
not
necessarily
been
developed
with
land,
stewards
or
practitioners
or
indigenous
communities
as
part
of
that
design
process.

Most
of
the
institutional
nature-based
standards,
they're
very
expensive
to
implement
for
project
developers,
and
they
don't
address
small
and
medium-scale
land
use
projects.
They
are
really
very
large
institutional
approaches
that
don't
allow
for
a
lot
of
shared
standards,
design
or
shared
standards
governance.

So
our
registry
system
is
a
pathway
for
methodological
development
to
design
new
credits
into
the
voluntary
carbon
market
and
has
the
capacity
to
allow
multiple,
different
types
of
entities
to
form,
steering
committees
that
publicly
govern
those
methodologies
and
do
so
in
a
way
where
that
governance
is
on
the
blockchain,
so
that
there's
a
permanent
record
and
so
that
there
is
a
way
for
the
community,
the
broader
Global
Community
to
audit
the
decision
making
behind
a
specific
standards,
research,
development
and
adaptation.
Over
time.

a
lot
like
a
financial
accounting
spreadsheet.
You
have
followed
the
appropriate
project
activity.
You
have
completed
your
monitoring
report.
You
have
had
a
third
party
verifier,
ensure
that
your
outcomes
for
your
project
are
real.
All
of
these
then
get
registered
inside
of
the
registry
when
the
credits
are
issued.

The
next
series
of
technology
that
you
are
able
to
utilize
in
this
system
once
you
are
project
developer,
having
received
credits
is
region.
Marketplace
and
regen.
Marketplace
serves
the
market
functions
of
where
it
showcases
publicly.
The
issuance
allows
for
sell
and
buy
orders
to
exist
and
creates
the
trade
mechanism
between
companies
looking
for
Solutions
and
the
project
developers
that
are
the
ones
that
hold
these
credits,
and
so
our
Marketplace
system
is
designed
to
disintermediate
a
marketplace
where
historically,
credits
are
largely
bought
and
sold
by
Brokers
and
our
system.

that
it
is
a
ledger
designed
from
scratch
for
Global
carbon
accounting,
its
application
specific
this
blockchain,
so
it
is
architected

its
core
blockchain
software
to
only
serve
one
use

do
you
issue
credit
standards?

govern
those
credit
standards?
How
do
you
issue
credits
from
projects?
How
do
you
trade
credits
from
projects?
So
it
is
both
a
financial
accounting,
public
Ledger
of
all
credits
produced
within
the
region
registry
system
as
well.

record

governance

it's
very
important

understand
that
in
the
world
of
blockchain,

few
communities
have
their
own
blockchain.

for
a

use

developer,
a

are

are
ecology,

govern

alongside

the
governance
mechanism

network

inherently

ensure
that

voices

communities

real
world
ecological
regeneration
work
is
built
into
the
decision-making
system
of
every
change
that
is
made

registry,
the
marketplace
or
the
blockchain,
and
so
in
the
instance

our
design
no
longer
serves
the
needs
of
indigenous
communities.

ecologist
perspective

ecology

part

my

background

a
scientist,

think
about
carbon
credits,
we're
we're
thinking,
Way
Beyond
just
does
it
check

carbon
accounting
box?
Is
it
one?
Metric
ton
equals
one
carbon
credit.
We
are
looking
at
ecological
co-benefits.
We
were
looking
at
water
quality
improvements
in
soil,
quality
improvements
and
air
quality
improvements.
We're
looking
at
how
projects
are
impacting
local
communities
economically,
we
are
looking
at
the
ecosystem
function
in
which
a
project
sits
and
asking
ourselves.

How
can
we
go
beyond
carbon?
So
all
of
our
credits
that
are
developed
through
our
native
registry
system
are
really.
We
call
the
system,
carbon
plus.
As
a
way
of
saying,
we
know
that
the
market
wants
carbon,
but
what
else
does
the
market
want?
Is
a
really
interesting
question
and
out
of
this
we
have
anchor
forestry
projects.
We
have
shape
grazing
and
Vineyard
projects
that
are
soil,
organic
carbon
focused.

We
have
cattle
grazing
projects
and
shape
grazing
projects
in
Patagonia
in
Argentina
we
have
Mangrove
restoration
projects
and
seek
help
restoration
projects
and
biochar
projects
and
Tea
Plantation
projects,
there's
ultimately
an
edge
of
development
of
what
regeneration
on
an
ecological
scale,
looks
like
across
the
planet
and
when
their
methodologies
are
developed,
they
are
practice
specific.
They
are
location,
specific
they're,
very
nuanced,
Niche,
oriented
high
integrity,
scientific
methods
that
Focus
only
on
land
generation
and
existing
biodiversity
and
Forest
reconservation
efforts.

So
one
of
my
favorite
projects
in
this
portfolio
is
from
era
Brazil,
long-standing
their
project
developer
that
wasn't
able
to
do
the
projects
that
they
want
in
the
Legacy
system.
That
is
developing
a
biodiversity
credit
for
what
they're
looking
at
is
they're
looking
at
the
keystone
species
inside
of
a
specific
series
of
forests
in
Brazil
and
saying,
if
we
model
and
measure
the
activity
of
the
keystone
species,
how
is
that
an
indicator
of
biodiversity
across
this
entire
ecosystem?

I
think
it's
important
to
understand
the
broader
scientific
community
that
we
sit
Within.
We
are
long-standing
USDA
Partners
through
the
open,
Team
Ag
Tech
Consortium.
We
have
Partnerships
with
Google
Earth
engine
and
planet
and
the
European
Space
Agency
We
Are
Scientists.
First,
that
have
built
technologies
that
serve
land
Steward
communities,
because
we
ourselves
are
a
community
of
individuals
who
have
developed
land
regeneration
projects
across
the
globe
over
the
last
15
years.

also
at
a
technological
level.
We
sit
within
a
community
called
Cosmos,
which
is
a
blockchain
specific
Community,
where
every
different
application,
specific
blockchain,
is
its
own
blockchain
and
has
its
own
governance.
So,
from
a
blockchain
engineering
standpoint,
our
engineering
team
not
only
builds
regen
Network
Technology,
it
builds
What's
called
the
cosmos
STK,
which
is
the
shared
development
toolkit
that
every
blockchain
over
150
blockchains
in
the
cosmos
ecosystem

it

much
more
about
what
is
a
scientific
standard
like
climate
science
is
being
used

real

use
case,
that's
on
a
farm
or
in
a
place
with
a
community
on
the
ground
and
how
do
I
use
the
science
to
record
that
there
are
ecologically
positive
and
climate
positive
outcomes
from
these
specific
projects
being
implemented
on
the
ground.

good
example
is
the
the
sec's
requirements

stock

think
it's
a
NASDAQ
and
the
Russell

If
you
were,

you
were
a
Fortune
500

the
United

now
have
to
say
what

climate
impact
goals

have
to
show
your
footprint

Frameworks

sort

starting
to
see
them
come

convergent

different
in
different
Industries,
but

real

quantifiable.

about
sea
level
rise,

supply
chain
disruptions.

think

energy
shifts.

start

quantify
the
climate
change
risks,
it
really

business
imperative
to
do
something
so
that
business

not
disrupted
across
the
globe
as
well
as
we
can
be
socially
forward
as

really
say

know

generation

to
leave
next?

we
put
Carbon
on
our
balance
sheet,

start
to
change

economic
model

we
tend
to
get
those
two
communities
that
come
on
the
supply
side
and
our
scientists
come
from
academic
institutions.
They
come
from
the
USDA,
they
come
from
the
European
Space
Agency.
They
come
from
Google.

So
there
is
a
whole
world
of
climate
science
happening
in
and
amongst
these
parties,
and
then
on
the
the
corporate
side.
We
have
a
real
Dynamic
mixture
between
kind
of
groovy
Brands
like
Jack,
Johnson
tour
and
beats
antique
and
all
good
that
are
really
aligned
with
us
in
the
level
of
what
regeneration
means
to
a
business
and
that
that
is
an
Essence
level
call
to
action
right
and
then
you
have
corporates
like
Microsoft
that
have
these
big
mood,
shackles
and
really
are
looking
for
new
scientific
methodologies.
They
already
know
what
Vera's
got.

They
already
know
what
gold
standards
got.
It
doesn't
meet
their
requirements,
it's
not
Innovative
enough!
For
them.
It
doesn't
have
good
enough
documentation
or
science
behind
it
to
be
considered,
something
that
they
consider
to
be
Paradigm
changing
and
it's
those
kinds
of
large
off
blockchain
corporates
that
often
come
to
us,
because
we
are
really
working
with
scientific
communities
that,
in
our
system,
are
pushing
the
edge
of
climate
science
and
doing
some
of
the
world's
leading
climate,
science
and
land
regeneration.

That's
fascinating
so
just
Playing
devil's
advocate
here
for
for
a
bit.
How
do
we
ensure
transparency
that
a
carbon
credit
actually
contributes
to
decarbonization,
as
opposed
to
just
packaging
and
pricing,
something
that,
like
a
forest,
already
exists,
and
that's
already
been
in
existence
for
for
hundreds
of
years
and
just
selling
that.

Yeah,
so
this
is
actually
a
conversation
that
we're
having
publicly
so
I
can.
Maybe,
in
the
follow-up
information,
we
are
actually
asking
our
community
at
large.
How
to
parcel
between
these
two
Frameworks,
which
really
in
the
heart
of
that
is,
is
a
discussion
between
emissions
reduction
and
carbon
removal
and
in
our
framework
of
emissions
reductions
as
ecologists.

I
think
that
where
we
try
to
go
beyond
the
forest
exists,
if
carbon
credits
could
fund
it
and
if
it
is
under
threat,
let's
bring
it
into
the
marketplace
and
just
count
this
Forest
we're
really
trying
to
go
beyond
that
and
say
you
know
beyond
just
saying
someone
might
put
a
shopping
mall
in
this
Forest.
What
are
the
other
kinds
of
social
threats
that
exist
in
that
place?
Yes,.

that
yeah
and
so
we're
really
trying
to
dig
in
in
these
very
application,
specific
use
cases
and
say
what's
the
right
approach
and
when
you
look
at
conservation,
you
really
have
to
take
in
mind.
It's
not
just
about
like
check,
mark
and
Counting
our
forests
and
getting
to
a
whole
accounting
system
that
really
measures
and
quantifies
all
forms
of
ecosystem
benefits.

and
that's
where
I
think
that
biodiversity
credits
and
designing
new
forestry
protection
programs
with
indigenous
communities
that
are
really
coming
from
these
land
Steward
perspectives
and
saying
if
we
can
Design
crediting
Systems
that
account
for
these
existing
biodiverse
spaces,
and
we
can
do
it
with
the
communities
that
are,
you
know
a
Thousand-Year
communities
in
these
spaces?
How
can
we
evolve
the
approaches
of
existing
programs
like
red
plus,
which
have
tried
to
do
this,
but
have
have
largely
failed
to
truly
serve
the
need
of
a
local
and
Indigenous
communities?

really

holding
a
number
of
different
use
cases
when
we're
looking
at
the
and
really
try
to
ask
the
application
specific
questions
that
science
needs
and
say
how
do
you
go
beyond
our
assumptions
and
these
circumstances
and
really
take
Innovative
approaches
that
are
community-centric
when
it
comes
to
these
types
of
on-the-ground
projects
and
I'll
share
the

where
we're
having
a
discussion
on
these
topics
live
and
like
we,
we
love
when
people
jump
in

their
opinions
to
our
public
governance
discussions
