Our speaker for this session is Steven Judd, who is a Digital Security Analyst at Devon Energy Corporation. Steven's day to day focus is on DevOps and cloud focused solutions and infrastructure. Steven has amassed a bunch of fun and unusual tips and tricks over the years and he'll be sharing them with you!
Each tip or trick will be followed with an explanation for what can be learned from what may seem like a silly example to show that even when you are playing around and having some fun you can still learn some solid fundamentals for writing PowerShell scripts.
The entire session will be a series of quick “lightning” type demos of PowerShell tricks that “struck” Steven as funny. He will “ground” these examples with best practices and PowerShell fundamentals. So laugh, groan, boo, and whatever else as he “electron”-ically demonstrates that PowerShell can be fun as well as functional.

seen
with
keypress
is
actually

saw
somebody
and
it
was
an
interesting
way
to
do
it,
but
they
load
their
profile
using
also
they
put
key
press
in
there,

so
it
will
skip
a
bunch
of
functions
inside
your
profile
or
it
will
add
a
bunch
of
if
you,
depending
upon
what
keys
you're
holding
when
you
start
PowerShell.
So
you
can
hold
the

the
shift
key
all
in
you
launch
PowerShell

it
won't
show.
You
know
it
won't
load
much
modules.
It's
almost
like
that.

attention

on

the
fundamentals:
PowerShell
can
access
the
speech
API,
it
can
load
any
node
assembly.
Just
make
sure
you
check
your
dotnet
versions
and
make
sure
that
it's
supported
for
the
console
or
the
systems
that
you're
running
on.
Do
you
use,
parameter
validation.
You
use
error
handling,
because
that
is
good
and
speech
can
deliver
a
distinct
notification
for
long
running
background
text.

code

can
put

in
there

when
it's

other
thing
I
wanted

point
out
which
how
version
1
played
pretty
well
in
version
2
didn't
there's
actually
a
bug
in
the
Audio
Driver
on
Dell
laptops
for
Windows,
when
you're
doing
the
system
beat
that,
if
there's
background
audio
playing,
it
works
fine,
but
if
nothing
is
playing,
it
plays
terrible.
I
showed
this
to
the
dell
guys
there
they're
interested
and
didn't
care
at
the
same
time.
Okay,
let's
talk
about
the
fundamental
urn,
so
there's
obviously
better
options
for
music
playback
and
using
a
module.

but
if
you
use
a
module,
you
can
choose
not
to
expose
all
the
functions
yet
they're
still
available.
So

and
just

sure
covered
that

tools

sensitive

it
has

path

PowerShell

I'm
doing
an
encoded
command
with
no
profile,
so
it
loads
really
fast.
That's
the
nice
thing
about
doing
the
no
profile,
and
then
it
does
the
start
process.
