of
the

representative
powers.
You
are
recognized.
B
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
members.
Normally
at
my
church
we
would
read
the
bulls
and
pass
the
plate
and
then
give
an
altar
call,
but
I'm
not
going
to
do
that
to
you
this
morning,
but
I
want
to
read
a
little
bit
about
from
the
book
of
esther.
My
wife's
favorite
story-
and
I
know
you
all-
are
very
familiar
with
it.
B
What
happened
with
mordecai
esther
was
just
a
jewish
girl
that
you
know
was
from
a
poor
town
and
and
had
kind
of
lost
her
way,
but
god
had
chosen
her
to
do
something
great
and
after
she
became
queen
of
persia
her
uncle
mordecai,
who
told
her
not
to
become
a
jewish.
I'm
sorry
not
to
reveal
that
she
was
a
jewish
girl,
discovered
a
plot
to
kill
the
king
and
haman
was
another
guy
that
was
promoted
along
with
mordecai
after
he
discovered
the
plot.
B
So
everyone
was
required
to
bow
down
to
him,
but
mordecai
refused
to
haman,
told
the
king
that
they
need
to
kill
all
the
jews
in
the
land
because
they
opposed
him.
Mordecai
requested
that
esther
talk
to
the
king
to
stop
the
killing,
but
esther
was
afraid
she
was
afraid
to
approach
the
king,
and
so
she
told
mordecai.
B
Let
us
pray
heavenly
father
grant
is
the
wisdom
of
saul,
the
discernment
of
apostle
paul
and
the
perseverance
of
job
as
we
do
the
work
for
the
great
state
of
tennessee
and
for
your
kingdom
here
on
earth.
In
christ's
name,
we
pray,
amen.
Representative
powers
will
lead
us
in
the
pledge
of
allegiance.
I
pledge.
A
A
D
D
He
died
and
he
was
in
just
on
his
30s
and
ken
was
someone
who
not
only
helped
put
me
in
this
seat
but
helped
expand
the
careers
of
many
of
your
colleagues
in
this
room.
I
remember
taking
trips
with
him
to
selma
alabama
my
family
to
celebrate
the
historical
significance
of
what
happened
there.
I
remember
ken
and
I
sitting
down
playing
cards
with
our
friends
watching
tv
netflix
and
also
talking
about
my
dreams
of
becoming
a
state
representative
he's
worked
on
many
of
the
national
and
statewide
campaigns
you
see
in
tennessee
and
it's
the
reason.
E
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
members.
A
couple
years
ago,
this
body
helped
me
honor,
a
young
lady,
jesse
jennings
from
the
high
school
which
I
attended.
She
had
scored
her
1000th
point
back
two
years
ago.
Well
earlier
in
january,
she
scored
her
2000th
point
in
high
school
basketball
and
has
surpassed
2200
as
of
last
night
and
they're
still
playing
ball,
so
a
great
athlete,
a
great
teammate,
great
student,
great
ambassador
to
this
state.
So
if
you
will
help
me
in
honoring
her
for
this
achievement
this
morning,.
F
G
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
Two
years
ago
my
grandfather,
hoyt
kirk,
on
the
day
I
was
sworn
in,
was
our
chaplain
of
the
day.
Last
week
he
decided
to
retire
from
preaching
at
92
years
of
age
the
lyndon
church
of
christ.
I
would
just
ask
you
help
me
to
honor
him
in
completing
almost
40
years
of
preaching
there
and
almost
60
years
of
preaching
his
life.
He
just
has
got
to
the
point
where
he
can't
read
scripture,
but
he
knows
it
so
well.
A
H
Thank
you,
mr
speaker
remembers
when
our
buddy
from
dr
powers
was
talking
about
time
and
how
time
flies.
I
just
looked
up
and
my
my
girlfriend
surprised
me
yesterday
y'all
staying
up
and
she
brought
two.
My
two
youngest
sons
boy
stand
up
the
little
one
right
there.
That's
tucker.
He
wasn't
even
born.
When
I
got
to
this
chamber
now,
he's
fixing
to
turn
nine
years
old
y'all
make
him
feel
welcome.
F
Thank
you
speaker.
I
just
want
to
thank
my
fellow
historian
back
home
marty,
loveman
and
tfa's
john
harris
and
jay
reedy
for
traveling,
probably
150
miles
to
come,
speak
to
my
district
about
the
importance
of
the
constitution.
The
second
amendment
so
y'all
give
jay
a
big
round
of
applause.
Thank
you.
I
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
members
is
a
reminder.
Today
is
university
of
tennessee
day
on
the
hill,
while
president
boyd
and
kerry,
and
the
team
can't
be
here
with
us
today,
it
is
virtual,
but
me
I
see
much
orange
around
the
chamber,
so
thank
you
for
wearing
your
orange,
but
again
it's
university
of
tennessee
day
on
the
hill.
We
hate
they're,
not
here,
hopefully
they'll
be
back
with
us
next
year.
Thank
you,
mr.

what
did
you
say
the

M
Thank
you,
mr
speaker,
members.
I
just
wanted
to
remind
each
and
every
one
of
you
that
this
is
february,
which
is
black
history
month.
Please
keep
in
mind
the
contributions
made
to
our
wonderful
country,
our
wonderful
state
of
african
americans,
past
present
and
future,
and
also
mr
speaker,
don't
forget,
ties
for
turns
ties
for
turns.
M
G
K
Thank
you,
mr
speaker.
The
house
transportation
full
committee
will
meet
at
12
30
in
the
hearing
room.
One.
J
I
think,
mr
speaker
and
members
that
drive
in
just
be
weather,
aware
tomorrow
just
be
careful.
You
know
we
all
we
want
you
here
tomorrow.
We
want
to
be
able
to
conduct
business,
but
don't
put
yourselves
in
danger.
Not
everybody
may
follow
the
weather
as
much
as
some
of
us
do,
but
as
an
old
farm
boy
you
look
at
it
every
day
and
and
tomorrow
it
may
get
a
little
rough,
so
just
be
careful
out
there
and
I
just
wanted
to
make
sure
everybody
is
watching.
J
M
Mr
speaker,
thank
you
for
your
indulgence
and
I
hate
that
I
almost
forgot
this,
but
this
morning
and
yesterday-
and
I
don't
know
if
anybody
made
mention
of
ken
taylor
passing
okay-
that's
been
made
mentioned
up,
but
also
this
morning
I
got
news
of
a
former
co-worker
of
mine
who
was
a
shelby
county
firefighter.
M
He
when
I
was
first
promoted
to
lieutenant,
he
was
one
of
my
first
crew
members
and
he
was
an
amazing
person
really
really
funny
and
he
loved
everything
about
firefighting.
M
M
So
if
you
will,
let's
give
him
a
moment
of
silence,
you
know
for
one
of
our
fallen
heroes,
his
name
is
terry
watts
and
to
his
family
and
all
of
the
members
and
his
children
and
all
of
the
members
of
shelby
county
fire
department.
We
mourn
with
you
and
thank
you.
