one
ambassador
taxi
licensed
taxi
driver
licensed
taxi
cab
owners,
contraventions,
applications
for
new
and
new
applicants
and
20
a
lot
of
contraventions
in
for
taxis,
I'm
just
wondering
at
what
place
and
how
anybody
can
make
a
complaint
about
an
uber
driver
or
somebody
who
is
working
for
uber
and
how
that
would
be
shown
here.
So.

this
report
details
those
matters
that
have
been
referred
to
the
TLT,
either
by
our
last
licensing
staff
or
enforcement
staff.
It
includes
those
who
have
made
Appeals
based
on
a
potential
denial
of
a
license
for
threshold
breaches.
So
those
any
complaints
in
respect
to
service
of
a
regulated
business
is
made
through
three
one,
one
or
through
us
directly.
They're
investigated
charges
are
laid
and
where
necessary,
matters
will
be
referred
to
the
TLT.

through
you,
mr.
chair
companies
are
not
complaints.
These
are
Cate.
These
are
matters
that
have
been
referred
to
the
TLT
under
their
jurisdiction.
As
a
quasi
judicial
panel,
we
have
received
complaints
and
we
have
undertaken
investigations
in
respect
to
Ober
in
the
last
last
year.
It's
not
in
the
TLT
report
from
an
enforcement
perspective,
just
around
shy
of
600
matters
have
been
investigated
in
respect
to
PTC
uber
and
against
various
entities.
Obviously
various
drivers.

just
follow
on
that,
at
least
with
the
annual
report
from
the
licensing
tribe,
you
know
we
get
to
see.
Oh,
the
overall
systemic
picture
related
to
taxi
infractions
and
license
status.
How
are
we
going
to
see

kind

information
or
similar
information
in
a
public
domain
about
uber
and
other
vehicle
ride,
share
programs
so.

a

clarity,
councillor
Davis,
the
only
matters
that
are
being
reported
to
here
are
those
that
have
gone
through
the
Toronto
licensing
tribunal
process.
I
understand
this
is
not
reflective
of
the
full
suite
of
enforcement
activities
that
we
undertake.
What
you
will
see
in
the
TLT
reports
are
those
matters
that
have
made
it
to
the
TLT,
certainly
through
other
discussions,
other
reports.
Well,
we
want
to
discuss
the
enforcement
picture
in
in
relation
to
other
license
categories.
We
can
do
that
in
other
contexts.

Through
you,

so
chapter
546,
which
governs
taxi
limo
PTC,
all
under
the
vehicle
for
hire,
are
all
subject
to
the
thresholds
and
are
all
subject
to
the
regulations
of
that
chapter.
In
accordance
with
that
chapter,
we
take
matters
forward
to
the
TLT,
as
is
appropriate
and
dictated
by
the
provisions
of
chapter
five
for
six
equally
applicable
to
all
I.

You,

chair,
there
is
a
specific
distinction
with
any
driver
who's,
a
member
of
a
PTC
and
in
our
screening
criteria.
It
says
that
we
shall
deny
an
application
for
a
renewal
of
a
vehicle
prior
driver
and
ptc
driver
license.
No
ptc
is
allowed
to
can
allow
a
person
to
act
as
a
ptc
driver
where
the
license
here
applicant
has
and
follows
the
thresholds.
So
when
we
have
issues
with
ptc
drivers,
we
notify
the
platform
that
that
driver
is
affiliated
with
and
they
are
removed
from
providing
service
and.

were
removed
from
the
platform,

think
there
has
to
be
some
way
that
the
statistics
that
relate
to
uber
drivers
and
their
performance
of
their
jobs,
with
the
license

they

PTC

how
Buber
and
lyft
are
performing
in
the
City
of
Toronto
and
I
do
believe.

need
to
ask
for
some
new
way
of
reporting
and

proposed

they

extension
of
their
permits
for
the
time
released
of
2022,
which
we
cite
the
committees
and

council
for
the
support
in
the
past.
We
urge
that
this
be
extended
further
to
2032,
as
the
mostly
owners
of
these
permits.
Our
families
and
they've
been
in
a
family
for
many
many
years,
and
it
would.

hope
that
they
could
live
out
your
life
for
the
second
of
the
passing
of
the
husband
or
wife
to
complete
their
mission
of
these
trucks,
so
we're
getting
at
the.
We
appreciate
the
extension
to
propose
to
2022,
but
we
would
ask
the
committee
investigating
this
extended.
Events

there

a
consideration
of
another

years,

that
the
families
of
these
family-owned
businesses

continue
operating

way

opposition
to
this
is
from

I'm

plead

As

this
consultation

measures
governing
the
safety
of
ride-sharing
services
in
the
early
hours
of
March
21st
this
year,
my
son,
Nicholas
Cameron
called
an
uber
to
take
himself
and
his
girlfriend
to
Pearson
Airport.

Some
conversation
in
the
sued
middle
of
the
night
downtown
Toronto
luggage
in
the
trunk
and
a
plane
to
catch
an
uber
generated
map
of
the
route
taken.
That
night
shows
the
car,
then
headed
west
along
the
Gardner
and
on
the
highway
I've
been
told.
The
drivers
cell
phone
fell
to
the
floor
of
the
car
and
he
stopped.
The
car
died
on
the
paved
shoulder
of
the
expressway,
he
retrieved
the
phone
and
then
sharply
pulled
back
into
traffic
directly
into
the
path
of
a
BMW
traveling
at
full
speed.

fate
of
the
driver,
who
was
23
years
old
and
a
resident
of
Ottawa,
will
be
decided
by
the
courts
and
our
family's
been
told
it
will
be
a
long
process
in
the
weeks
since
Nick's
death
I've
had

friend
seat

how
bird
deals
with
the
worst
case
scenario
like
ours
and
I've
listened
to
countless
stories.
I
have
a
few
of
my
own
and
read
a
lot,
but
now
nearly
enough
about
uber
and
this
process
I'm
frankly
overwhelmed
and
disheartened
there's
a
kind
of
madness
to
all
of
this.

we
ask
ordinary
people
without
training,
to
jump
in
their
car
and
pretend
they're
taxicab
drivers
after
Nick
Stagg
uber
cut
off
the
drivers
access
to
its
app,
which
hardly
matters
when
your
car
has
been
totaled
and
you're
facing
criminal
charges.
They
disabled
next
uber
account
which
prevented
his
brother
from
looking
at
his
history
hours
after
the
accident.
They
sent
him
a
receipt
asking
him
to
rate
his
driver
and
giving
him
an
opportunity
to
add
a
tip,
and,
more
than
ten
days
later,
credit
for
his
visa
arrived
with
the
item
marked
promotion.

Everything
else
has
been
assigned
to
overs
blanket
insurance
policy
for
its
drivers
that
swings
into
effect
as
soon
as
they
sign
on
to
the
app
it
takes
all
comers.
That
policy
is
dictated
by
Ontario's
no-fault
insurance
law,
uber
abides
by
the
laws
of,
and
once
the
laws
are
made,
but
those
laws
are
set
by
politicians
like
you,
and
that
is
where
the
true
power
lies.

am
begging

use

light

uber
style
of
lobbying,

with
regard

background
checks

lawyer

approached

how
lawmakers
were
pushed
to

wording

uber
wrote
when
drafting
legislation.

United

tactics

legislation
affecting

organization

under

why
driver's
safety
training

industry
was
eliminated

taxi

sharing
drivers
alike
and

thought
that

good
idea.

in
the
staff
report
that
the
recommendation
to
remove
that
ratio
be
included
now.
