javascript

continued

an
engineer
other
places,
but
really
missed
working
directly
with
open
source
and
with
open
source
maintainers.

so
when
the
opportunity
came
up
to
come
back
to
github
to
lead

it
was
kind
of
a
no-brainer.

was
such
a
perfect
role
for
me,
and
so
I
rejoined
github
about
a
year
ago
and
am

product
manager
now

not
an
engineer
anymore.

now
three
years
old.
So
it
was
about
two
years
old
when

joined
and

has

misconception

source
work

free

think

way,

of
the
barriers
for
me
getting
into
open
source,
because

was
like,
I

a
ton
of
responsibilities.

don't
think
I
have
the
ability
or
the
freedom
to
be
able
to
code
for
free
or
to
contribute
for
free,
but
it
turns
out
that
that's
not
always
the
case.
You
definitely
deserve
to
be
paid
if
you're
an
open
source,
core
contributor

open
source
maintainer,
because
proprietary
companies
may
be
depending
on
maybe
your
npm
packages
or
your
open
source
framework
and
they're
they're,
making
profit
off
of
it.
Meanwhile,
maintainers
may
just
be
getting
burnout
