month

since
we
spun
up
the
first
alonzo
blue
test
net
and
started
rolling
out
the
program
now
we're
joined
by
kevin
by
demetrius
and
by
nigel,
to
tell
us
a
little
bit
more
about
the
progress.
So
nigel,
let's
just
start
with
a
very
quick
reminder:
high
level
of
the
test
nets
program
and
how
the
different
colors
are
all
rolling
together.

so
as
people,
the
way
that
we
split
it
up
is
into
judo
colors,
so
we're
moving
from
a
blue
blue
network
to
a
white
network,
then
purple,
then
red
white,
then
black
and
then
ultimately
mainly
so
blue
is
our
first
network,
where
we've
got
our
initial
blue
task
force.
Who
are
helping
us
just
to
set
up
that
network
and
get
it
moving.

so
tim,
the
what
the
node
cli
does
is
to
provide
access
to
the
core
node
to
control,
how
the
user
interacts
with
it,
and
this
is
working
at
a
fairly
primitive
level
in
the
system
stack.
So
at
this
stage
we're
just
rolling
out
lonzo.
We
don't
have
all
the
cool
support
mechanisms.
We
don't
have
daedalus
the
wallop
back
end
or
even
yet
the
pluto's
application
back
end.

this
is
what
I'm
trying
to
do
in
building
up
the
exercises,
so
the
exercises
are
they're
based
to
some
extent
on
the
ones
that
we
rolled
out
for
shelley
for
the
stake
pool
operators
last
year.
So
we've
learnt
from
that.
What
we're
trying
to
do
is
to
build
things
up
so
that
people
with
a
moderate
amount
of
technical
capability
can
access
the
alonzo
blue,
the
alonzo
white
networks.

So
the
exercise
they
start
off
with
getting
started,
exercise
just
people
to
the
very
basics.
We
then
move
on
to
submitting
pre-built
scripts
onto
the
blockchain,
so
you
can
actually
submit
a
pluto's
script.
Have
it
do
something
execute
against
the
testnet
blockchain
and
confirm
that
that
that's
all
worked
all
through
the
cli
and
from
there
we
build
you
up
so
that
you're
writing
your
own
scripts.
You
can
submit
those
onto
the
blockchain
check
them
out.

These
will
be
more
sophisticated
than
the
ones
that
we've
pre-built
the
ones
we've
pre-built
for
you
will
be
very,
very
simple
things,
just
transactions
that
always
succeed
just
so
you
can
get
feel
for
how
things
working.
Let's
build
you
up
very
simple
transactions.
First,
then,
going
forwards
we'll
look
at
controlling
the
minting
of
native
tokens
using
pluto
scripts,
and
the
final
set
of
exercises
are
designed
to
get
people
thinking
a
bit
about
a
sophisticated
d
app.
So
how
can
you
write
something
more
sophisticated?

rollout
for
alonso
is
following
a
similar
pattern
that
we
that
we
followed
for
the
itn,
the
incentivized
test
net
and
indeed
for
shelley,
with
this
idea
of
getting
a
small
core
group
of
experts
to
start
with
and
then
gradually
building
out
slowly
and
we're
using
what
we're
calling
a
a
buddy
system.
This
time,
perhaps
you
want
to
tell
us
a
little
bit
about
how
that's
how
that's
all
working.

Indeed,
tim-
and
this
reminds
a
lot
the
itn
days.
Basically,
what
we
have
here
is
a
great
team,
actually
many
great
teams
of
of
fire
engineers
who
are
working
on
delivering
the
actual
components
that
we
need
in
order
to
smoothly
progress
towards
the
alonso
hard
fork
and
that's
going
to
be
the
situation
throughout
summer.

basically,
what
we've
done,
starting
from
the
blue
network,
was
to
set
up
a
very
small
team
of
spos
to
start
with
and
then
eventually
they
brought
in
their
bodies,
and
then
we
are
also
bringing
in
some
mongolian
graduates
from
the
haskell
academy,
as
well
as
some
additional
people
who
will
gradually
form
a
bigger
and
bigger
network.
And
eventually
the
target
is
for
the
blue
team,
the
core
blue
team
and
their
buddies
to
basically
become
our
own
boarding
team.

For
anyone
who
will
be
introduced
to
a
later
stage
on
our
networks
and
actually
we're
quite
confident
that
this
will
work
because
it
has
been
tested
already
throughout
the
the
blue
network
and
as
we
gradually
move
into
white,
the
team
will
be
expanding.
We
already
have
a
very
good
collaboration
pattern
with
them
and
it's
expecting
to
to
be
quite
smooth
and
interactive
for
the
new
users
that
will
be
brought
on
board.

course,

this
step-by-step
exercise
approach
that
you've
outlined
is
also
mirrored
to
a
certain
extent
in
how
we're
bringing
new
people
onto
the
test
nets.

a
it's
a
steady,
slow
growth.

we're
doing
here

we're
using
experience
to
be
gained
from
the
education
sector,
so
what

idea
is
that
we
share
the
knowledge
from
those
who
are
already
experienced
with
a
core
group
of
individuals.
So
we've
got

task
force
that
is
currently
practicing
on
the
card
on
the
alonzo
blue
test
net.
What
they
are
doing
is
is
testing
the
exercises,
checking
things
work,
building
up
their
own
experience
and
knowledge
about
the
node
about
the
network.

the
partners
are
doing
doing
a
great
job,
so
they
are
working
locally,
they're
working
on
a
mock
chain
with
a
version
of
what's
called
our
pluses
application
back
end
and
they're
building
some
some.
You
know
extremely
innovative.
Smart
contract
applications,
whether
it's
from
you
know,
a
lending
pool
to
an
exchange
or
even
even
an
oracle.

They've
got
their
stage
one
finishing
next
week,
which
is
on
the
30th
of
june,
which
is
going
to
be
really
exciting,
because
they're
coming
to
go
and
demonstrate
what
they've
built
and
it
will
be
working
applications
within
a
local
environment.
It's
not
fully
integrated
to
the
node
into
the
ledger,
but
it
is
a
working
application
and
we'll
record
those
sessions
and
we'll
be
able
to
share
them
with
the
community.
After
that
date.

believe,
just
a
few
more
final
technical
steps
to
take
before
we're
ready
for
white.
I
understand
one
of
them
is
to
get
a
force
it
working
so
that
we
can
get
test
data
funds
to
the

alonzo
white
participants.

more
things,
I
believe,
aren't
the
around
the
cli,
for
example,
that
that
just
needs
to
be
fixed
before
we
can
really
move
forward.

first
step
is
to
get
out
a
new
release
of
the
node
and
cli
that
will
be
with
an
enhanced
cli
which
is
going
to
have
functionality
in
it.

enables
people
to
calculate
the
execution
units
they
need
automatically
and
some

functionality.

enable
users
to
be
able
to
develop
applications
so
that
that
first
release
is
going
to
come
out
as
the
first
part
of
white
and
then
after
we've
got
that
moving.

peer-to-peer
is
the
second
out
of
the
three
parts
of
the
decentralization
story
for
cardano.
You
know:
we've
had
decentralization
and
block
production,
then
it's
centralization
of
the
network
and
then
finally,
you
know
decentralization
of
governance,
so
decentralization
the
network
is
the
peer-to-peer
part
right
now
we
have
the
the
network
system
running
working,
but
it's
in
a
kind
of
federated
or
unmanually
configured
scenario.
So
we
need
to
eventually
get
to
that
fully
decentralized
network
infrastructure.

we're
getting
really
quite
close.
Now:
we've
got
to
have
about
a
year
and
a
half
of
development
work
and
research
work,
and
we've
now
incorporated
all
of
the
results
of
from
our
research
partners
into
our
into
our
design
and
we
have
completed
you
know
all
the
features,
all
the
major
features
for
the
implementation
and
we
have
nodes
that
are
fully
integrated
and
they're
actually
running
on
the
main
net
right
now
as
test
relays.

Yeah,
so
we've
got
some
lovely
results
from
our
research
partners
and
also
some
very
nice
practical
results.
So
in
the
slide
showing
here
this
graph,
this
is
showing
some
of
the
simulation
results
from
our
research
partners
and
what
we're
showing
here
is
we're
comparing
a
sort
of
theoretically
perfect
strategy
which
can't
actually
be
achieved
in
in
practice.
It
relies
on
global
knowledge,
comparing
it
to
a
strategy
and
that's
the
blue
lines
and
in
the
red
lines.

You
know
not
quite
as
good
as
the
you
know,
theoretically,
perfect,
but
gets
really
very
close
indeed
after
a
few
rounds
of
iteration,
and
that
strategy
is
one
that
we
can
implement,
it
relies
only
on
local
knowledge
and
it's
resistant
to
adversarial
behavior,
which
of
course,
is
something
that's
very
important,
for
you
know
peer-to-peer
network
for
a
cryptocurrency,
so
we've
taken
that
research
result
and
we've
incorporated
that
policy
into
our
design.
And
now,
if
we
look
at
the
the
video,
this
is
the
video
of
actually
running
this.

In
practice
on
a
relay
on
the
mainnet,
so
this
is
a
node
that's
deployed,
and
what
we're
seeing
is
the
20
or
so
piers
that
this
pier
is
connected
to
it's
it's
broken
down
by
continent
and
then
by
region
within
within
the
continent,
and
the
little
blobs
at
the
edge
is
counting
the
number
of
headers
that
we
have
seen
from
that
peer
first.
This
is
the
metric
that
we
have
come
up
with
and
that
our
research
partners
have
validated
for
us.
So
we
simply
count
the
number
of
times
each
peer
gives
us
a
header
first.

is
a
header
that
we
ultimately
do
include
into
our
chain
and
we
use
that
to
rank
the
peers.
We
call
this
the
upstreaminess
metric
and
then
what
we
do
is
every
hour
or
so
we
get
rid
of
the
two
worst
peers
by
that
metric
and
replace
them
with
two
random
peers,
and
it
turns
out
that
strategy
we've
simulated
this
in
large
large
scale
with
our
research
partners.

So
the
next
major
milestone
that
we
have
is
a
public
test
net.
We
have
already
been
doing
you
know
private
internal
test
nets
and,
as
I
say
this
video
obviously
is
you
know
a
relay
run
by
one
of
our
developers
on
the
mainnet.
But
the
next
stage
is
going
to
be.
You
know
a
test
net
where
we
invite
a
number
of
spos,
a
small
number
just
to
get
things
started
to
to
run,
prepare
to
peer
relays
and
block
producing
nodes
on
the
test
net
and
then
we'll
incorporate.

know
feedback
from
that,
we'll
you
know
complete
more
of
our
testing
work
and
then
the
next
stage
after
that
will
be.
You
know
a
more
widely
opened
public
test
net
and
we'll
so
we'll
do
this
in
a
relatively
careful
way,
because
it's
extremely
important
that
we
get
this
right,
that
we
get
the
rollout
right
and
that
we
end
up
with
code.
That
is
the
same
kind
of
standard
of
testing
as
we
have
for
our
consensus
code
or
any
other
part
of
the
system.

quite
a
lot
to
do.
But
huge
progress
has
been
made
by
the
team,
as
I
hope
you
can
realize,
and
we're
getting
ready
for
the
situation
where
we
can
roll
out
to
a
full
test
net.

have
to
do
a
bit
of
rigorous
testing
as
duncan's
discussed,
but
we're
then
well
on
the
way
to
having
a
main
net
implementation
for
the
state
pool
operators
so

The
specific
problem
that
I
would
say
that
nervous
solves
is
interoperability,
as
the
blockchain
has
flexible,
crypto
primitives
and
allows
for
application
developers
to
access
users
across
other
blockchains
by
removing
the
frictions
created
by
wallets
and
having
users
on
different,
wallets
and
different
networks,
we're
very,
very
excited
to
partner
with
cardona.
As
you
can
imagine,
and
yeah
very
eager
to
see
this
bridge
go
to
mainnet
and
see
all
the
interesting
things
that
can
happen
as
a
result.

Nervous
and
cardano
have
partnered
to
build
a
bridge
between
the
two
blockchains
by
a
grant
that
we
issue
to
a
team
within
our
ecosystem
called
mouse
belt.
Initially,
the
bridge
is
focused
on
supporting
moving
ua
to
the
nervous
blockchain
and
then
with
the
launch
of
pluto's
smart
contracts
and
kerdano.

so
both
are
based
on
the
utxo
programming
model.
I
think
there's
obviously
advantages
that
come
with
that,
which
are
the
reasons
why
we've
both
based
programming
models
on
that
and
there's
there's
a
natural
synergy
that
is
caused
as
a
result.
So
we
know
that
sort
of
cadano
and
novos
both
are
very
unique
blockchains
as
a
result
of
of
this
choice
in
design
and
are
supported
by
diverse
communities,
researchers,
developers
and
enthusiasts
so
smart
contract
and
dap
development
on
both
chain
is
still
very
much
in
the
nascent
stage.

one
specific
example,
we
have
a
lending
platform,
that's
going
to
be
built
on
devos,
for
example,
in
the
future,
you
can
be
an
ada
holder
and
bring
on
your
assets
onto
our
blockchain
and
use
your
ada
as
collateral
in
order
to
borrow
funds
from
from
this
lending
platform.
So
that's
one
practical
way.
Obviously
the
the
use
cases
are
limitless
and
vice
versa
is
also
possible.

if
I'm
a
user
of
the
cardinal
blockchain
or
the
nervous
blockchain,
the
actual
end
user
experience
for
myself
should
not
be
very
difficult
and
there
shouldn't
be
specific
barriers
to
using
different
applications
across
these
ecosystems,

so
for
us.
We
see
a
future
with
that.
But
that
is
not
is
not
a
problem
where
you
can
use
whatever
you
like.

billion
dollar
question

it

actively

team

not
faced
any
hiccups

we

the
digital
asset
market,

it's
grown

infancy

capital
markets
and

critical
need
of

exchanges

crypto

really

build

traders

really
for
every
player
in
the
ecosystem,

that
is
why

so
excited
to
be
partnering
with
kidano,

there's

much
synergy

we

you
about
our
flagship
product
orion
terminal
orion
terminal
is
the
first
gateway,
decentralized
gateway
to
the
digital
asset
market,
aggregating,
centralized
exchanges,
decentralized
exchanges
and
swap
pools
into
one
terminal
critically.
I'll
add
this
is
a
decentralized
and
non-custodial
entry
point
and
that's
what
differentiates
us
from
other
aggregators.

majority
of
liquidity
in
market
is
still
held
on
centralized
exchanges,
but
centralization
is
inherently
anti-blockchain.
The
the
industry
was
built
on
a
desire
for
an
alternative
to
these
centralized
entities
and
beyond
a
purely
ideological
standpoint.
In
the
wake
of
a
number
of
exchange,
hacks
and-
and
even
you
know,
outages
in
the
last
month
alone.

what
we've
achieved
for
the
first
time
is
the
the
decentralization
of
this
major
source
of
liquidity
in
market.
The
centralized
liquidity,
so
orion
terminal
users
can
now
trade
ada
and
a
growing
number
of
assets
across
the
likes
of
finance,
kucoin
and
and
and
many
others
to
come
for
best
price,
every
time
securely
from
their
wallet
and
critically.

not
only
that
the
the
with
the
launch
of
our
amm
several
days
ago
in
our
upcoming
integration
of
major
swap
pools,
we've
become
the
first
platform
that
allows
non-custodial
trading
between
centralized
and
decentralized
liquidity
in
one
place,
so
as
well
as
ensuring
the
best
price
for
your
trade
every
time.
This
opens
up
a
whole
new
world
of
arbitrage
opportunities
between
decentralized
and
centralized
liquidity
sources,
and
this
will
only
become
more
lucrative
and
frequent
as
we
work
to
aggregate
every
centralized,
exchange,
decentralized
exchange
and
swap
pool.

think
the
key
takeaway
here
is
that
the
decentralized
nature
of
our
platform
means
global
inclusivity,
democratized
access
and
participation

the
space

ownership

are

they
actually
connect
their
collectible
with
a
fantasy
sports

progression

collectible

potentially
merging

with
the

already

ai

vr
in
the
sports
world

nfts
can
play
this
role
of
advancing

platform

socials

actually
have
fan
tokens,

it's
very
interactive.

have
rewards
and
you
can
influence
team
decisions.

recently
came
out
with
something
called

sandbox
actually
a
virtual
world,
so
this
is
nft
the
nft
space

which

user
can
monetize

gaming
experience

there's
also

areas
around

betting,
so
support
spending
in
the

is

was
about

billion
dollars
in

alone,

some
interactiveness

fantasy
leagues
and
even
daps

So
before
the
2018
world
cup,
there

actually
10
different
daps
using
non-fungible
tokens
and
lottery
models,
so
yeah
there's
a
lot
of
potential
there
and
probably
the
final
thing
in
the
sports
area
would
be
around
fan
ownership.

the

to

potential

child
in
baseball
cards,
you'd
get
a
book

beckett.

tell
you

pricing

the

and

based
by
an
assumed
scarcity

could
actually

real-time
audit
providing
data
to

actually
calculate

scarcity
and
thus
the

areas
like

fifa
is
actually
doing
some
stuff
around
merchandise
as
well
with
nfps.
So
again,
this
is
physical
merchandise,
but
it
has
a
digital
twin
or
at
the
end
of

luxury,
handbags,
jewelry,
high-end
wine
and
sneakers.
All
these
type
of
things
could
use
nfts
digital
twins
with
the

physical
world.

it
helps
prove
the
legitimate
ownership
when
reselling

secondary
markets
are
an
untapped
market
right,
they're,
big
and
they're
growing,
but
they
really
haven't
quite
reached
that
potential,
and
in
this

think
nfts

help

potential
at
a
quicker
pace
then

there's
in

There's
protected
designation
of
origin
for
foods,
like
cheeses,
wines,
meats
and
data,
could
be
added
to
these
nfts

digital

things

could

ideal
of
merging

physical
and

some
projects

on

gap

nfps

completely
different
environments

recommendation

maintain
it
as
an
nft,
so
not
only
the
institution.

Reading
that
letter
can
verify
you
wrote
it,
but
also
if
I
get
a
job
there,

can
get
some
sort

commission
out
of
my
salary
because
you

helped
me
and
the
fact
that
the
world

technology
extends
to

many
different
fields
like
science,
social,
popular,
cultural,

a
perfect
computational
platform
to
use

different

and

exciting
development

it's
completely
organized
bottom
up.

had

victor
that
did

incredible
job.
They
built
a
completely
novel,

tool

a
tool
that
enables

to
quickly
browse
all
the
proposals

The

that
were
made
by

community
advisors

get
informed
about
how
you
should

and

we
can
make

few
years

when
basically
input
output
was

only
company
that
was
really
doing
it.

I'm

very
glad
to
see
other
projects
taking
a
similar
approach
to

one
we
take,

it's

like
just
a
handful
of
projects
that
really
engage
in
it,
so
you
can
easily
get
away
with
not
doing
much
research
and
you
know
focusing
on
marketing
and
or
some
specific
application
dome.

domain
that
people
are
interested
in
at
that
particular
time.

But
I
just
think
that
this
is
just
a
matter
of
time
the
compared
let's
say
to
a
few
years
ago.
I
think
the
space
has
already
matured
much
more,
and
this
trend
is
definitely
going
to
continue
in
the
near
future
when
you

cardano

actually

cardano's
has
been
doing
this
since
the
very
beginning,
as
I
say
to
my
students,
often
one
has
listened
to
the
mathematics
if
you're
able
to
tell
them
what
is
the
problem

articulate

problem
in
the
right

they,
they
will
tell

the
solution.

general

team,

has
grown
a
lot

over
the
last
few

general
approach,

research,

Fundamentally,
we
still
strive

high
impact
top
quality
research,
outputs,

widely
in
the
top
venues
for
research
in
the
area
of
distributed
ledgers
cryptography
as
well
as
financial
technologies.

we
do

a
three-pronged
approach.

we
do
have
our
in-house
researchers.
These
are
full-time
employees
at
input
output.
We
have
embedded
research,
which
are
people
that
are
working
at
university
labs
which
are
funded
by
ihk,
and
finally,
we
have
external
collaborators
external
research
projects,
which
is
basically
outsourcing
the
research,
some
specific
problems,
some
specific
research
problems
to
partners
with
contracts
which
are
very
specific
in
terms
of
time
and
deliverables.

say,
I'm
really
blessed
to
be
able
to
work
with
some
really
amazing
people
that
serve
as
research
fellows
at
input
output.
So,
in
the
last
few
months
we
either
had
published
or
accepted
for
publication
a
few
papers
that
I'm
very
excited
about
the
first
one
is
hydra
that
appeared
in
financial
cryptography
in
data
security
2021.

So
this
distinguishes
this
layer,

approach
from
say
others,
for
instance,
lightning,
which
is
a
layer
2
solution
on
top
of
bitcoin
that
do
not
respect
the
underlying
scripting
language.
So
an
application,
for
instance,
running

top

lightning,
will
have
to
recognize
the
way
lightning
works.

Another
paper
I
should
mention
that
I'm
very
excited
about
is
uroboros
chronos,
which
was
accepted
that
eurocrypt
2021.

euroborus
chronos
protocol
actually
demonstrates
how
it
is
possible,
based
on
ad
hoc
and
dynamic
participation,
to
build
a
global
concept
of
time
and
export
it
not
only
to
the
participants
of
the
protocol,
but
also
to
any
application
that
is
running
on
top
of
the
ledger.
That
means
that
any
dependency,
any
external
dependency
on
a
global
clock
is
removed,
and
in
this
sense
the
protocol
becomes
its
own
time.

the
benefit
of
this,
of
course,
as
you
understand,
is
that
someone
can
connect
to
the
blockchain
much
faster
compared
to
what's
happening
right
now.
So
we
have
already
completed
like
a
first
round
of
research
in
these
techniques,

there

that's
coming
out
and
there
is
a
paper
which
is
submitted
for
peer
review
and
what
the
community
can
expect
very
soon
is
to
start
seeing
a
prototype
being
tested,
as
well
as
eventually
the
system
being
deployed

part
