The Fund was created upon the adoption of the Community Preservation Act (the “Act”) in November 2016 and is funded in part by the 1% property tax-based surcharge on residential and business property tax bills that took effect in July 2017 and an annual state distribution from the Massachusetts community preservation trust fund.
