In this video, Sariat Olatunji, Regulatory Policy Manager, takes us through a new provider review process which will give providers the opportunity to challenge factually incorrect information or incomplete evidence in the process. We explored views on what impacts providers and got their feedback on what else we might need to consider when designing the process.

This recording was taken at an engagement event we ran recently with professionals working in health and social care and the organisations that represent them; and wider stakeholders.

Attendees at the session took part in breakout discussions, and you'll hear a summary of some of the feedback later in the video.

28 Feb 2022

We have been running our engagement sessions since June 2021, focussing on different topics to support the delivery of our new strategy.

We’ve held seven events which have brought together providers and professionals who work in health and social care, the organisations who represent them and other strategic stakeholders where their views and feedback have informed the development of our work and in this latest engagement session we:
• Gave an overview of progress to date across the whole new regulatory model
• Showed what we’ve developed following on from previous sessions
• What we’ll be developing next
• Share how we’ll continue to develop and implement
• Tested our current thinking on the above and gathered feedback

The session was led by Dave James, Head of Policy. Watch the presentation and feedback session here.

To ensure that the delivery of our strategy is effective we want to develop how we’ll implement it in partnership with people who work in health and social care.

To support this in our latest engagement session, led by Amanda Hutchinson, Head of Regulatory Change and Natasha Persad, Policy Manager, we discussed why we need a better connection between registration and ongoing assessment.

This session brought together providers and professionals who work in health and social care, the organisations who represent them and other strategic stakeholders.

To ensure that the delivery of our strategy is effective we want to develop how we’ll implement it in partnership with people who work in health and social care.

To support this in our latest engagement session, we’ll be discussing why we need to change the way we work and having open conversations about CQC’s relationship with providers.

The session was led by Victoria Watkins, Deputy Chief Inspector of Primary Medical Services and Integrated Care and brought together providers and professionals who work in health and social care, the organisations who represent them and other strategic stakeholders.

25 Oct 2021

In this latest engagement session, you'll hear from Rosie Benneyworth - Chief Inspector of Primary Medical Services and Integrated Care, Matt Tait - Head of Strategy and Ann Ford - Deputy Chief Inspector about our plans to develop our oversight of systems.

We launched our new strategy in May, where we outlined how we plan to change and transform to deliver more effective regulation. Further to this, the Health and Care Bill has indicated that we will have a wider oversight of health and care systems moving forward.

We want to develop how we’ll implement our strategy in partnership with people who work in health and social care. To support this, we’ve been running regular engagement sessions focused on different areas of our work.

We need to make changes to our assessment frameworks to help ensure that any future regulatory model works at provider, local authority and system levels. This session is a chance to hear CQC's thinking on a single assessment framework and share thoughts from a system perspective.

We’ve now launched our strategy, which outlines how we plan to change and transform to deliver more effective regulation. To ensure that the delivery of this strategy is effective we want to develop how we’ll implement it in partnership with people who work in health and social care.

To support this we held an engagement session where we started coproducing and discussing changes to our assessment frameworks. The session brought together providers and professionals who work in health and social care and organisations who represent them. This was the first of a series of monthly engagement sessions where we will aim to coproduce elements of our transformation programmes.

Natalie Coleman, Regulatory Policy Manager facilitates the feedback session of this event.

Hear the key points which came out of the breakout room discussions. We asked members of the public, people who use services, and the organisations that represent them; providers; trade associations; commissioners; and other professional bodies to discuss three questions;

How can we best focus on what matters most to the public, as well as those aspects which have a positive effect on quality?

How do we evolve our ratings system to ensure it is fit for purpose, up to date, and focused on what matters most?

How can we work with other system partners better, so when information is collected from providers, it’s collected once and used many times?

All of the comments and questions have been recorded and will help shape our strategy and future phases of this work, as well as our immediate priorities.
