The 20th Annual James B. Hunter Human Rights Awards were held in Arlington County VA on Dec. 13 2018. The awards are sponsored by the Arlington County Human Rights Commission. The James B. Hunter Award goes to individuals, community groups, non-profit organizations and business establishments that promote cultural diversity and equal rights for all residents.
The award is named for former Arlington County Board member James B. Hunter, who dedicated many years to helping underserved groups access government services designed to protect their rights.

Arlington County's Commission on the Status of Women has presented the Women of Vision Awards for 32 years to individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to women's issues and have, over time, developed and communicated their vision for women and engaged community members and other leaders in order to realize this vision. This year's awardee in the category of non-profit was artist, writer and educator Sushmita Mazumdar.
