The Internet ecosystem – including infrastructure, devices, applications and services, and relevant policies and regulations – is in a constant state of flux. Governments and businesses are increasingly making decisions that could adversely affect the Internet. This session will feature community members from different regions who will explain how the Internet Impact Assessment Toolkit helps them evaluate the effect of specific policies on the Internet.

Community Networks are a way to bridge the connectivity gap. They happen when people come together to build and maintain Internet infrastructure to connect on their own terms. Internet by the community, for the community. In this session, community members from Pakistan to Hawaii will showcase their success stories and experiences in facing a range of different challenges related to community networks. We'll look at concrete examples of how you can get engaged and help grow the Internet locally.

During this session, representatives from different continents will share how they’ve fostered the growth of Internet exchange points (IXPs) and technical communities, such as network operator groups (NOGs), in their respective regions. It will be an opportunity to celebrate successes, and to discuss challenges faced by local communities and the practical ways they overcame them.

Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS) is a global initiative, supported by the Internet Society, that provides crucial fixes to reduce the most common routing threats.
