This video shows you how GitLab helps the Technical Writing team deliver the product documentation.
GitLab and the world of DevOps can be a bit daunting, particularly if you are not a software developer or seasoned DevOps professional. By looking at GitLab through the lens of a team that is in an adjacent and supporting role to software development, it will hopefully help make some of the workflows and capabilities a bit more relatable.
It's for:
- GitLab team and community members at who want to understand, at a high level, what the Technical Writing team does.
- Technical Writing candidates considering applying for a Technical Writer role at GitLab.
- Folks in the wider industry who want to find out more about docs-as-code.

This walkthrough of the current merge request (MR) widget framework provides a quick overview of the current state of the framework in order to kick off feedback.
The merge request widget framework synchronizes a wide variety of merge request (MR) widgets that serve many purposes. By systematizing attributes like layout, hierarchy, and content regions, the widgets will be more consistent, scannable, and utilitarian. Widgets will better adapt to page layout (responsive), and future widgets will have patterns to follow. The framework provides constraints where possible, but ultimately a widget's unique purpose should define the extent of how it's applied.

In FY22 we strive to improve the areas we identified to have a positive impact on GitLab’s usability and user experience. To allow product teams to continuously listen, test and iterate with end users during development and understand the impact of their changes more quickly, a small set of usability metrics is proposed.
This video is a brief introduction to these new usability metrics, how to use them and helpful templates.

Figma now has the capability to combine multiple component variants into a single collection. This makes it easier to create, discover, and use components in all their variants, with all their available options. This is a quick overview to how we’re organizing components in Figma, and also a demo of Figma’s new Component Variants feature.
Also take a look at Figma’s Variants Playground file → https://www.figma.com/community/file/903303571898472063/Figma-Variants-Playground

Welcome to the 13.1 Release Management UX kickoff! I am Rayana Verissimo, Sr. Product Designer at GitLab.
The Release Management Team is responsible for the categories of Release Evidence, Release Orchestration, Secrets Management, and GitLab Pages. In 13.1 we are taking a moment to improve visibility into performance, enhancing the backstage and technical aspects of GitLab that support the Release Management features.
I will focus on working hands on with some frontend issues, in order to burn down the UX Debt that was part of our backlog. UX Debt means that for a given issue, we failed to meet defined standards for our Design system or for usability and feature viability standards as defined in agreed-upon design assets.
In parallel, I’ll be working on some of the Release Orchestration items that are currently in the workflow:design phase.

This video is one of the UX scorecard study at gitlab. The purpose of UX scorecard study is to identify, scope, and track the effort of addressing usability concerns within a specific workflow. Today we are focusing on on the secure area of gitlab, this is a feature for our ultimate users.
The persona for this UX scorecard study could be Security specialist, developers or dev ops who take care of the security of their product.
The scenario for this UX scorecard study is: as a security specialist, my main task monitoring and flagging events, running down high priority tasks. I just upgrade gitlab account, so that I want to try out the security feature.

Walking through "job to be done" baseline experience: When reviewing vulnerabilities for multiple projects, I want to see them all in one location, so that I can prioritize my efforts to resolve or triage them while seeing the larger picture.
Overview: dashboard feature is at an early product stage and considered an MVP. The user we are designing for works in an organization's web security department. Roles such as: security analysts, security engineers, or head of security. Although, some mid-to-smaller organizations may not have a dedicated security department, in this case the users would likely be: developers, tech leads, and devops engineers.
